“This is a really good grammar book, the explanations are short but clear. The recommended textbook for my class was Arrividerci 2, but this is much better. I liked the exercises at the end of the chapters, although the listening is just a wee bit fast for me. I have copied that onto a usb to listen to that in the car. Practise makes perfect!” – Lorna, September 2016

I’ve just finished Italian Workout A2 book, and I’ve got to say that this method of studying on my own (combined with some Easy readers that I bought) has really helped me master Italian basics during this difficult quarantine period. I’m looking forward to taking classes in my city from now on in order to improve my Italian, but this has been a fun and easy first step in my way of becoming a fluent Italian speaker. 🙂
I recommend it to anyone who’s willing to put a little effort and time into studying this marvelous language because it is indeed effective and doesn’t cost you a lot of time (nor money, though).

I have recently bought the A2 and B1 workout books and am working my way through the first. I also go to Italian classes once a week. I’m enjoying the books and the exercises that go with them, which also contain listening tests. The grammar is set out very clearly and is reinforcing the knowledge I already have.

I bought the complete series of Italian Workouts. While I’m comfortable at the B1/B2 level (not proficient), I started with the A2 workout. I should probably add that I also take a 1 ½ hours class once a week in Italian at the B2. I have a lot of study material and books, I am very happy to add these booklets to my collection. The author does a good job of addressing the major points at this level. I think the author did a very nice job in formatting and presenting the material as well.
There is one point I’d like to make however. In Italian Workout A2, Solutions: Unit 2, Exercise1, the answers to #3 and #8 are wrong. You don’t even need to see the questions to know the answers are wrong (“ce ne andiamo” and “ve ne siete andati/e”). Neither of these is a conjugation of ‘andarsene’.
It would be nice if misprints and errors, like these were corrected and people who have purchased the workouts receive corrections. Since I see reviews for this workout going back to 2013 , I’m doubtful such a process exists. Free corrected updates would incentivize the owners to report errors they found.
Bottom line, I do believe these books are well worth the price and time spent with them.

      Thanks for your feedback, Barry.
I’m getting the error you spotted checked right at this moment. There is a process for fixing errors, but of course, having gone through multiple cycles of proof-reading, we rely on sharp-eyed readers to point them out. If that doesn’t happen, we may remain unaware of such issues.
It’s NOT the case that we leave major problems unfixed because we don’t care. However, nor would it be practical to be updating buyers with corrections many years after their purchase.

And our expert has come back with her opinion:

the book and the exercise are correct, of course “ce ne andiamo” and “ve ne siete andati/e”) are conjugation of ‘andarsene’

I’m working my way through the A2 Workout book and I’m really enjoying it. The grammar is concisely but well explained and there is so much useful vocabulary provided. A real variety of exercises which keep me on my toes.
I’m in the third year of a weekly Italian evening class and this book is not just great revision it is stretching me too. I bought the A2 and B1 Workout books and now I wish that I’d purchased A1 as well.

I prefer a reasonably formal approach and this suits me well as I find it sufficiently challenging to be interesting – something that is difficult to find as colleges abandon language classes as uneconomic. The vocabulary lists are particularly useful to somebody who finds herself avoiding conversation because she knows a blank will occur two sentences further on if she embarks on a topic – much easier to sit back and listen to the others!
Comprehension passages are enjoyable but I grew impatient trying to sort out the order of passages of conversation – midnight was perhaps not the best time.
I think I may have a computer problem for sound, so have not yet tried the aural exercises properly. It will need a lot of practice I know as speed is my enemy in Italian speech.
Occasionally I come across an answer I would like to query but I shall save these up until I have enough to make an enquiry worth while.

Now I shall have to make sure that summer jobs and interests do not keep me away from regular working through the units.

I really enjoy these Workouts. This is the third one I’ve bought and they suit my style of learning, i.e. they’re structured with lots of exercises to test your learning.

This multi-modal workbook is exactly what I was looking for to supplement my on-again/off-again pursuit of Italian! I love having the visual, as well as the listening, to add to my arsenal of learning. It is so nicely organized and user-friendly. I’d definitely recommend it to any student of the language. Thanks for a great product!

This is an excellent workbook for early intermediate Italian learners. Everything is very clearly set out and the course covers grammar, with very good explanations, listening, reading and writing. The exercises and the listening tracks are really useful. Highly recommended.

  11. Anne Quieti

I am very much enjoying working my way through the book. I bought this and the next 2 levels to strengthen and improve my existing knowledge of Italian. The listening section is really good. It is one thing reading and doing exercises but listening is a so important – it is a skill in itself. I certainly would recommend this to anyone wanting to build, improve and strengthen their Italian.

  12. Aleksandra Nowacka

  13. Karin

Great book. It is A2 level.

  14. Lorna McEwan

  15. Larry

Great book, has helped tremendously, with my reading comprehensive in Italian.

  16. Ewa

After practising in the A1 I had to buy this one, I can really recommend this for Learning grammar and thins a fun way.

  17. Karen

Straightforward and clear explanations of the grammar. I have tried quite a few workbooks and lost interest in most of them. This one had units of the right size, plenty of variety of exercises, useful vocabulary lists and vital listening. It really helped me identify weak areas and the stuff I need to revise/firm up

I had trouble downloading this and the customer service was ‘a real person’ and they were so helpful. The promised refund was made punctually and without a fuss when i finally gave up trying to download this from my computer and they were so helpful.

  19. Luciana

Great book ! very well organised and easy to follow for beginners. One of the bests grammar / exercises I got online !

  20. John Thomson

this e-book is up to the same standard as the other e-books I have purchased
It contains the appropriate amount of information needed to progress
it is written for the reader and not for the author, clear, concise and with just enough ‘human expression’ to make you feel comfortable
An abundance of exercises and of course, secondo me, the listening exercises

    bravo Michele
