A precised version of the film/book, well written for language learning with chapter specific glossaries. I didn’t know the story and so the real nature of the story came as a surprise. I read with a native speaker who studied this at Uni and commented that it is well written for language learning – now to find £6 for the Amazon film

This is a excellent ebook of what is an incredibly moving tale. I thoroughly enjoyed both reading and listening to this abridged book and found myself clearly remembering the scenes from the film. It must have been difficult to know what to leave out but all the key scenes are there, from the first ‘buongiorno principessa!’ to the final scene and ‘abbiamo vinto!’ Brilliant.

I purchased the eBook of La Vita è Bella . I had seen the film in the past and thought the film was a masterpiece. Despite it’s tragic setting it is about love and hope and delivered with Benigni humour. I thought the e-book was very good – the chapters are a good length and the exercises at the end of each chapter allowed me to check my comprehension.
I tried to read a chapter every few day – taking the time to read a few times, then read listening to the audio and then listen to the audio on it’s own. I will come back to the book to revise after I have read my next eBook and I’ll try to find the film to watch again.

I have not seen the film or heard of the book so the storyline was new to me. I was enjoying the story until I realised the subject matter. To be truthful I didn’t want to continue reading. I’m glad I did. There were words of which I had no knowledge and the notes definitely helped. More difficult than I am used to but a good challenge. I shall have to watch the film!

This easy reader story based on the film ‘la vita è bella’ lives up to its B1/B2 challenge as a comprehension exercise. But it does not reveal the touching reality of the events that took place at the time. There should have been a chapter 9 as an epilogue explaining this

Very enjoyable to read. I had seen the movie( with subtitles), so that may have helped to enjoy the book. Not sure if the humor would be appreciated as much without seeing the movie. Not faulting the writers at all, just that humor may be better portrayed and appreciated in film than on paper. That said, it was charming and funny to read although the subject material was tragic. Truly a story told in an ingenious way. Highly recommend.

I really enjoyed the film and the other week in our Italian class we were looking at a couple of clips from the film which were the basis of our homework. Not having the film on dvd I wanted to remind myself of the story and I remembered that some of the ebooks are of Italian films. What a great find! I ordered La vita è bella that evening and the next morning it was in my inbox ( a quicker service than Amazon Prime).
I’ve listened to the audio several times and there is so much of the film content in such a small book! This little book vividly brought the film back to life for me.

La Vita e’ Bella, I bought the book as I had seen the film and knew the story.
I think this easy reader captured the humour as well as the tragedy. I had forgotten the humour to be quite honest and found my emotions were a bit all over the place as I didn’t want to laugh as it was a tragic story….. saying that it proves how much the film and the writer captured those emotions!!!

I loved this film and managed to find it again on Youtube. The story is so tragic and yet full of hope for the future. I enjoyed reading the text of this book and will re read it several times while listening to the audio.

    Bravissimo!
I really enjoyed reading this. I have seen the film several times, and I “saw” it again as I read. And I felt the same clash of an extraordinarily sweet and a brutally painful story. I would think it must have been very difficult to maintain that emotional tone while also including all the details of what happens in the story — bravo! For me, the audio was too difficult but I was able to read it without too much difficulty; now I get to go back and listen!

La Vita è Bella. I have seen the film many times but to be able to read and listen to the story again is wonderful. And it loses none of the original flavour. The notes are also very helpful. So glad I bought this e-reader. Thank you to all who contributed!
