1 review for Le ciel libre (A2)

  1. Peter Meiklejohn (verified owner)

This is the tenth book I have bought in the French series of Easy Readers, which goes to show just how useful I find them. Although I have been a student of French for some time now, the books give me a simple way to help keep my French alive.
The story is simple but well-written, constantly presenting new vocabulary along with new grammar concepts. It is pitched at someone who already knows some French, and wants to either increase their knowledge or maintain their level of French. At the end of each chapter is a very useful glossary of new words and expressions that make it easier to follow the story.
English does not always translate directly into French, and French has its own way of expressing things. This book, like the others in the series, illustrates how it is expressed in French. I learn quite a lot from this, in the context of the story, enabling a continuing comparison of French and English expression.
Vocabulary, grammar and expression are just part of learning French. The other part is pronunciation. The audio files are read clearly and distinctly, allowing me to both learn the pronunciation of new words and phrases, and to pick up on the cadence of the spoken language.
