Thoroughly enjoyed the book and audio – increased my vocabulary and somewhat limited listening skills. Having an interesting subject and dialogue really helped. Well produced and excellent value, thank you.

I found the reading interesting and relatively easy. I also appreciated the exercises. I found them to be fun and helpful. The vocabulary was useful, especially for someone growing up in Rhode Island, a state that is over 20% Italian. The Italian we grew up with was, for the most part, the Neopolitan dialect. The audio also was useful. I will be buying more books, and I would encourage others to do so also. You won’t be sorry.

  3. John Hateley (verified owner)

I really enjoyed this book. I found it easy to read but it had quite a few words and phrases that challenged me. It gave a lovely insight into Leonardo and the world that he lived in.
The exercises at the end of each chapter are a great way to test your understanding.
    Well worth the money!

I enjoyed reading this short story about Leonardo and his time in Milan. I found the story interesting and quite easy to read. I like having the audio and the exercises at the end of each chapter. Thanks again.

I could not resist buying this book as I am also interested in art. I found it an intriguing story, recounting events that I did not know about, so now I want to do some research to see if it is based on fact. It is a challenging read but the exercises at the end of each chapter ensure that you have fully understood the text as well as refreshing one’s grammar. Yet another good read from the Onlineitalianclub.

This reader was challenging but enjoyable. The exercises at the end of each chapter were varied so they reminded me to brush up on prepositions in on chapter, grammar in another.

These reads are the right length for a student and well graded. The chapters are short and so it easy to recall what one has read and to answer the questions at the end of each chapter. Additionally, the vocabulary is well chosen (the words I needed to look up were there at the end of the chapter).
    Well done as always!

This little story like many of the others is both interesting and challenging. I have been studying Italian for four years and while I have a pretty good vocabulary and I am fami,ar with most tenses, I found this book to have many words I didn’t know even with the glossary provided. The story kept my interest and was amusing at the same time. It has to be a challenge to write stories for adult learners that are not childish. These writers do a great job! The little quizzes at the end of each chapter allowed me to assess wether I had fully understood the plot. The book is well written, interesting and instructive. On sale, it was an excellent value.

Another excellent easy reader, following very much the same structure as before. Great value for money, and the story is well enough written to keep the reader’s and listener’s interest throughout.

The level is B2 which is quite demanding and definitely not for beginners. In fact the first of the sections is probably the hardest as it uses more colloquial language; it is definitely worth persevering.

What does the easy reader format add to, for example, simply listening to Italian TV news or other recordings? I think the big advantages, even if you are proficient enough to use these other sources, are the ability to do repeated listenings thus greatly improving comprehension, and to compare audio with text. A further advantage is being able to use the exercises. It always helps to read or listen for a purpose, and this is what the exercises offer. The only reason I have not given this five stars is that it would be useful to have more exercises. Perhaps each section could be followed by a relatively simple exercise which could be completed after a first or second listening, and a harder exercise to be done after further listening to get greater depth of understanding.

Overall though, very useful and effective in developing language skills which are already fairly developed, and excellent value.
