I have been having weekly lessons with Giulia for more than 6 months. Our conversations are always lively and enjoyable and cover a range of topics. It is a great help to be able to replay the video and to go over points of grammar and vocabulary.
Giulia is an encouraging and supportive teacher.

I was so lucky to have my first lesson with Marta. Because Marta is a great teacher and fits everything that I had hoped for in a teacher/professional conversation partner. Right from the start she asked questions and kept the conversation going in a relaxed and calm way. Her being calm and relaxed helped me to ease into the conversation. And at the end, I was very astonished how well it went regarding my limited speaking abilities. I found that to be a great way to practice my speaking and booked 10 lessons right away. Now I am in my third lesson and I like the conversations with Marta so much and I learn a lot! I highly recommend it to just try it out!

I was quite apprehensive as whilst I have been to various classes I have never had a one to one lesson before. The tutor Francesco was very easy to understand and immediately put me at ease, and was well prepared for the lesson.
I think this was one of the most useful learning tools I have experienced and would not hesitate in recommending anyone to try it.

I really enjoyed Roberto’s assistance and patience during my free 30 minute conversational lesson. And he sent me some pointers in a message after the lesson also. Highly recommended!

I am so pleased that I tried the offer of a free lesson, so pleased in fact that I signed up for another 10 lessons. I was apprehensive as I find speaking in another language very traumatic as I tend to forget any words I know when I am faced with another person. I need not have worried, Maurizio has been very patient and now after several lessons, I am beginning to relax and enjoy the conversation. I asked to concentrate on conversation so the majority of the lesson is spent in discussion but with gentle reminders on grammar when I have used words incorrectly.
To anyone who is unsure whether to sign up for lessons, take it from me, you will not regret it.

Giulia Bulzoni è la mia eroina. Giulia è divertente e ha
molti talenti per farti parlare italiano, anche se sei un principiante. Grazie mille Giulia !!!

Like many learners of Italian I have spent far too much time on written Italian and grammar. As a result my reading and written Italian is reasonable. Formal class lessons are mostly grammar based, and while very interesting, often teach you to construct sentences that you rarely need in real life conversations. Due to fear of getting things wrong, and also laziness I have relied on email and text messages to communicate with workmen, banks etc and have avoided the dreaded telephone wherever possible.
It all seems a bit mad when my objective is to communicate in real conversations.
This is where the skype lessons really come into their own. Looking at the other reviews it is clear we all have slightly different needs, and that all the teachers are skilled in providing the right sort of teaching.
I am less nervous about our lessons now, but still feel very self conscious. In the past with another teacher I have had MP3 recordings which work for some people but I find mortifying as I sound so bad.
Michela understood from the outset that I wanted normal conversations and she has great skills in stimulating the flow.
This Covid year has been so difficult, and in the absence of being able to talk to friends in Italy she has been an absolute lifesaver. My life has very little to talk about but Michela somehow pulls it out of the bag to produce interesting and often funny chat. I just feel that it is normal, not so much a lesson but a slice of life. Skype occasionally has a few blips but I no longer feel stressed when this happens. I know that if I decided to focus more on grammar that Michela would teach me well with all the patience she shows to this grandma.
We can chat about most things, but try to push Covid from dominating, and definitely dont want to do Brexit.
Thank you Michela for all your patience and good humour

My class was disappointing through no fault of the tutor who was well prepared, kind and friendly.
My disappointment was my inability to speak. It was like there was no connection between my brain and my mouth. Even though I have been studying, listening and reading Italian for more than a year when it came to simple introductions I became tongue tied, so much so that Alberto began at the beginning teaching me masculine and feminine nouns. I found it all very upsetting and didn’t feel encouraged to repeat the experience.

If you’ve never spoken Italian before, Margie, it seems unsurprising that you would have difficulty the first time, however much you’ve studied, however much you’ve practiced listening. Speaking is a skill in itself and requires a sort of ‘muscle memory’, not just a theoretical knowledge.

I’ve had similar experiences myself in first lessons with a new language, or one I haven’t spoken for decades. It can be upsetting, especially if the teacher (perhaps reasonably) assumes that because you can’t get a single coherent word out, you must be a beginner.

After a half-dozen sessions, though, things always begin to loosen up, and gradually I become able to speak at a level more appropriate to my ‘real’ knowledge of the language. Of course, that presupposes a willingness to ‘repeat the experience’.

Alberto Bibbliani was incredibly patient with my low-intermediate level of Italian, and he later sent me a transcript of our conversation, which will help me review my errors at leisure. He deserves every one of his five stars. I look forward to more conversations and some grammar study with this outstanding teacher.

My Skype lesson was with Giulia Bulzoni. Giulia was fantastic – I am a beginner but with her help we managed to converse in Italian for the entire lesson! Giulia is patient, friendly and helpful. She provided me with a text of our conversation which I found very useful, so I could concentrate on listening and speaking rather than trying to write notes at the same time. Giulia helped me a lot with my pronunciation too. I found it very beneficial having a one on one lesson and will certainly consider taking more classes with Giulia in the future. Grazie mille!

I really would highly recommend you try these lessons. I have been having weekly Skype lessons with Lucia since July 2019. It s a great opportunity to practice listening and speaking Italian. It is very rare that we use English during the lesson. We spend the first 10 minutes or so chatting about the weekend/ daily activities and then move to work through a Nuovo Espresso book. I really like that there is a good combination of learning and studying with more emphasis on the learning. There are audio and video files to listen to and watch which are at anormal talking speed i.e. not slowed down. The speed is realistic and helps atune your ears to the language. There is homework too so you are able to check your learning .

Michela is a talented teacher who responds to my needs and encourages me to speak as well as setting some challenging homework. I would recommend Online Italian to anyone – and everyone!

  13. Edward Miles (verified owner)

So what can I say about my tutor. Well Lucia’s patience is immence. We often have a laugh about things. She certainly knows what she is doing and eaisly picks up on what I don’t fully understand so I do feel increasily confident in speaking Italian. For me, an hour one to one with Lucia is easily equal two hours in the class room and most of all, it’s fun. So if you can go for it.

I decided to try this because of the free introductory offer. I’m so pleased I did. I had a wonderful half hour talking to Mara who was patient and charming and gently corrected my many mistakes. I was so pleased I’ve signed up for a package of ten lessons.

    My teacher is Francesca.

I do not find the Italian language very easy and, because of my age, I am a slow learner but she is very patient and gives me lots of encouragement and confidence.

I believe Francesca’s Italian grammar is excellent and she is very good at explaining things to me and encouraging me to speak.

She provides situations and exercises that are relevant and useful to me and I feel challenged by the level of the lessons and keen to learn more. I am now living in Italy for the next six months and trying very hard to communicate locally in Italian. Francesca encourages me to do this and I have found that the people I speak to appreciate that I am trying. (‘Piano, piano’, they say!)

I find the homework is very useful. It helps me to learn more vocabulary and going through it with Francesca to make the amendments is also helpful to see where I am going wrong and how to do better.

    Dear Lucia

Thank you for allowing me to try an online Italian lesson. Here is my feedback following my online lesson with Alessandra.

Was the quality of the Skype call acceptable? 5 (extremely satisfied)
The quality of the Skype call was very good, with clear video and sound.

Was the teacher prepared for your lesson? 5 (extremely satisfied)
The teacher, Alessandra was prepared for the lesson, she sent out material via email a few days before the lesson with some discussion points about hobbies, daily activities etc plus photographs to be described during the lesson.

Was the teacher flexible and willing to meet your needs? 5 (extremely satisfied)
The lesson was conducted all in italian which was great as I had to really tune in to what Alessandra was saying. If I really struggled to understand then only then would she explain in English for me. She asked questions to determine my level e.g. I have not yet studied the future tense. She also determined what I hoped to achieve from the online lessons e.g. to improve grammar or conversation etc. I said that I would prefer lessons were conversation based so as I can practise speaking and prefer to study grammar myself.

Did you find this method of learning Italian useful? 5 (extremely satisfied)
Yes I found the lesson incredibly useful, I spoke more italian with Alessandra than I have in a very long time as I have no one to practice with. It was great that she corrected my errors and that she noted down my mistakes in the Skype app and recorded the session so I could go back over the lesson to pin point my errors.

Did you learn anything new? 5 (extremely satisfied)
I feel Alessandra helped me with my pronunciations things I had been pronouncing incorrectly

Overall, how satisfied were you with your lesson? 5 (extremely satisfied)
I am very satisfied with my online lesson and can not wait to do another. As Daniel had sent out an email about the forth coming dale I am waiting for the discount code before booking further lessons. I would prefer to have Alessandra as my tutor again.

Would you consider buying further online lessons with this teacher?
Definitely with Alessandra as I feel I really benefited greatly from our last lesson together.

Thanks to Lucia, impareonline Daniel & my tutor Alessandra for a great learning experience!
    Louise Kemp

    Grazie mille!
A great big thank you for having the opportunity to try out a free online italian lesson. The lesson was thirty minutes via Skype with my tutor Alessandra. I did feel nervous to start with but Alessandra really helped me to relax into the lesson. The entire lesson the tutor spoke in italian which was great as I had to really tune in to what she was saying. Only if I was really stuck would she explain in English. This lesson was a great learning experience for me as I do not get that many opportunities to speak in italian… as I have no one to practise speaking with! Thus having the opportunity to speak on a one-to-one basis for a full half hour was just what I needed to improve my spoken italian. The Skype lesson was recorded so I could play it back and I could also go over all of the tutor’s notes she had made during the lesson whenever I made a mistake. I feel I have benefitted massively from this experience and I intend to book a block of lessons with Alessandra so as to keep improving in my language learning. Thank you to Alessandra for being a wonderful tutor and to Lucia & Daniel for organising & making the lesson possible. If you are thinking about booking a lesson, do it, you will not regret it!

Many many thanks to onlineitalianclub for their offer of a free Skype lesson. It wasn’t something that I had seriously considered and didn’t really know what to expect, but Daniel’s conversational encouragement in the newsletters did the trick. I wasn’t disappointed!
I found it incredibly interesting, useful and fun. I was impressed at every level. The teacher (Alessandra) was friendly, positive and helpful. The ability to record and play back the lesson was a bonus I hadn’t expected and will encourage me to try and be more relaxed next time! I had a useful list of things to work on, and suggestions for the future, including possible authors. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and have already recommended it to other learners of Italian.

During “Try a free lesson week” I signed up. My lesson with Giovanna was terrific. I was so pleased that I enrolled for 20 additional lessons. She is very well prepared. She thoughtfully checks in on my ability to understand. The homework is helpful but not overwhelming. My experience just gets better!

  19. Angelina Cowley

I bought a set of 10 lessons in one of the sales and have bought a further 10 since. I wish I had taken the plunge sooner!
Chiara is a patient, clear and interesting teacher and Skype is an excellent way to learn. Its functionality means that she is able to write the words/phrases I don’t understand and they flash up on screen during our conversation. At the end of the lesson the words are all there to revisit afterwards. She also sends an audio file of the conversation.
I would definitely recommend Chiara and the format of the lessons.

  20. Maureen Sullivan

GIOVANNA has been my tutor for over a year now and I simply love her! She is thorough, organized and responsive to my needs.

Augusto è bravo e flessibile e anche ben organizzato e paziento con me. Mi piacciono le lezioni molto. Penso che io stia facendo progressi.
    Grazie infinitamente

  22. Ruth Stephens

I had a series of lessons with Lucia which were extremely helpful. Lucia is a very good teacher; she sends you some preparatory work which forms the basis of the lesson. She corrects mistakes as you go along and afterwards sends a transmission of the lesson together with exercises based on the errors made during the lesson. A very good way of making sure you have understood. Lucia is very patient and encouraging. I highly recommend her.

  23. Eva Hayward

I have had two lessons with Stefania and I like using Skype more and more. It was a little bit hard to start with, but the second time went a lot smoother and now I have booked a third time. It could not be more convenient; to sit at home and pick a time that suits you to have a lesson! I have also had various exercises and homework sent to me by mail, which I have appreciated a lot. I will certainly carry on learning Italian this way. / Eva

I have had two Skype lessons, my tutor is Lucia.
As my biggest problem is conversational Italian, I felt that the Skype format was the next best thing to moving to Bologna,
This has turned out to be the case.
Lucia is a good teacher, very knowledgeable, patient but she keeps one at it, this is as it should be.
I think its success can be measured by the number of ‘ehms’ in my side of the conversation, definitely less second time round.
The down side, no fault of the club, the Skype connection failed once or twice.
I will certainly be having more lessons
