I enjoyed reading this book. It was a nice story and well written. I recommend it!

  2. Lillias

Another good book. Listening a bit above my standard but a good challenge

  3. Helen Hensley (verified owner)

This was a great read – a good level , which meant I could use my new-found guesswork. It is an interesting little story, I would recommend it to anyone, even if your level is a little higher. Thank you

So far, this is one of my favorites of the easy readers I’ve acquired. Having it on file also allows me to review my own reading progress as my practice and study moves along. As advertised this is an easy reader providing the reader with every opportunity to develop vocabulary, grammar and listening skills.

We are a U3A group who learn Italian together. We all enjoyed this story and were particularly impressed by the use of several expressions new to us, which we then undertook to use in our own writing.

We thought the book was well-written, with good characterisation and clear descriptions. Although the audio version is rapid, we find it useful to listen more than once to help our own pronunciation when reading aloud.

I thoroughly enjoyed this reader. I studied it with a friend in a private class with our teacher and we all liked it. We usually do the historical readers and this one was a nice change (we do enjoy the historical ones though!). The extra vocabulary on food and restaurants was good, and I liked that everyone got what they wanted in the end. The reading was a bit fast for me though, I think I am more B1 than B2. That said, I can definitely recommend this reader.

  7. Anita

A well written, interesting story and I really enjoyed reading/listening to it. I could clearly envisage Oreste in the restaurant – a great character. Also loved his daughter Chiara.
The reading was fast but I am beginning to get used to this so, for me, B1/B2 is a good level as it stretches the mind.
New vocabulary which is good. I tend to look at the glossary first, prior to listening.
A great story and good value – it really helps to be able to download the first chapter prior to buying!

I enjoyed the story. There was enough new vocabulary in it for me to feel as if I were learning some new words. However,I did find the reading a bit fast and couldn’t have understood what was happening if I hadn’t already read the text to the end. It was the right level for me ,enough familiarity but things to learn, too.

I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to read something interesting whilst improving their grasp of Italian. I found that it stretched my vocabulary – that’s got to be good for me. The other thing that I also find of enormous use is the accompanying audio, which is improving another area of my grasp of Italian. Can’t wait to start my next book.

  10. Joan Scott

Really enjoyed reading the book. The reading is much too fast. One would not read a novel this quickly and certainly one wouldn’t have a continuous conversation at this pace for the said time.

  11. Linda Cooper

I am always amazed at the skill involved in writing a story that is written simply and yet interesting for adult learners. This one was very well written and acquainted us with a family business and the desire of one family member to strike out on his own and not continue with the business. The sister is the heroine, I really like that. I highly recommend the book.

  12. Linda Ann Novelli Thompson

I found this book interesting and learned a few new words. Not what I expected – in a good way! A fun read!

I enjoyed this easy reader. Reading is my strong point so I am always looking for things to read. I was surprised in that once I started reading the book that I decided to just keep on reading. I found it enjoyable and there were a few words that were new to me. Hard to pass up something about an Italian restaurant. I also liked that I was able to purchase the book on sale! Grazie mille! Mi piace moltissimo.
