An original Italian easy reader by Francesca Colombo

The ebook version of a thirty-part series of articles with online audio that walks a curious student of Italian through over a thousand years of history, from the mystical founding of Rome in or around 753 BCE to the end of the empire in 476 CE.

While the articles that make up this ebook are available for free at https://onlineitalianclub.com/history/, this version of the material (.pdf, .mobi Kindle-compatible, .epub versions available) is easily printable and/or readable on an ebook reader, such as the Kindle.

Please note: unlike our other ‘easy reader’ ebooks, for reasons of length this one does not contain glossaries of difficult words nor comprehension exercises after each chapter. Take a look at the free sample chapters before you buy!

A challenging read at my level, but as I love Roman history I already get the gist of the story whether I understand the words or not, which is very helpful. Having a book at a higher level but on a subject you know and enjoy reading about is really good and I will keep reading chapters alongside reading and listening to easier A2 books. Well worth the purchase

I hesitated to buy this since it is available on the website, but the content is wonderful and so much easier to use in the “book” format. A great resource!

I thought this was truly awesome! I found it all a bit difficult last year when the chapters came out every week but was inspired to go back to Rome after managing Il Medioevo much better this year. I know it’s available to read on the very helpful website, but it suited me to have it as a book so I had no hesitation in buying it. I am very interested in history but fairly ignorant about this time period. (OK, I’m obviously not European). I found it very informative (sure, I didn’t expect great depth in something of this length for the time period covered), but also most entertaining. The writer covers some serious events with a very light touch indeed. I highly recommend it, and with all these books, the audio is great too.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave the first review, Peter! We appreciate it. And we’re happy you found the series useful. Next summer, we’ll do the middle ages.
